What We're Celebrating
National Sandwich Day is Monday, Nov. 3rd, so we're dedicating a full day on Sunday, Nov 2nd to honoring the incredible sandwich innovations created and popularized by African American cooks and communities.
From the iconic Po' Boy of New Orleans to the beloved Fried Chicken Sandwich, we're showcasing the rich culinary heritage that has shaped American sandwich culture.
Top sandwich chefs will compete by creating their unique interpretations of the Po' Boy, Fried Chicken Sandwich, BBQ Sandwich, and Chopped Cheese sandwich. Attendees sample, vote, and enjoy a festival atmosphere with live music, vendors, and interactive activations. Each session offers a complete culinary journey through sandwich history.

About The Producer
Dick Burroughs brings his passion for sandwiches and community celebration to this National Sandwich Day event. His previous National Sandwich Day competition at Brooklyn's historic Lefferts Historic House in Prospect Park in 2024 showcased his commitment to honoring food culture in meaningful settings.
In 2022, Mr. Burroughs teamed up with Tremaine Wright, Chair of the New York State Cannabis Control Board, for a National Sandwich Day crawl through Brooklyn.
Their tour of NYC sandwich shops blended delicious exploration with conversations about New York’s newly enacted cannabis laws and regulations and aired on BRIC TV as a feature segment.
